About the manager: 

Maven was formed following a management buyout of the private equity business of Aberdeen Asset Management PLC. The senior team that led the transaction has worked together since 2004 and have transformed Maven into one of the UK’s most active SME investors, having invested over £920 million in more than 570 ambitious UK companies since it was established in 2009.


They now have a presence across all regions of the UK, with a team that is recognised for its collaborative and respectful culture in supporting the growth of a wide range of public and private companies.


In 2021, Maven was acquired by Mattioli Woods PLC, a leading provider of specialist wealth management and financial planning services.

Investment focus: 

Maven Income and Growth VCTs: The four generalist Maven VCTs are established and well-diversified trusts which primarily target regional unquoted businesses.


The VCTs target ambitious companies in defensive or counter-cyclical sectors with recurring or contractual revenue and that they can access at attractive entry multiples.


Maven’s regional business model allows its nationwide team to source, manage, and exit a wide range of investments throughout the UK.
